Common questions
Will it do my child's homework for them?
No, and this is the heart of the product. TutorLumi will not give answers, write essays or do calculations for your child. It reads the homework, then teaches by asking questions until your child works it out. You can read every conversation and check for yourself.
Which school years does it cover?
Years 3 to 11. Children in Years 3 to 6 get Otter, our primary tutor. Years 7 to 11 get Lyra, which understands GCSE boards and tiers. When your child finishes Year 6, their account moves from Otter to Lyra automatically in September.
Which subjects?
Subjects across the national curriculum, using Oak National Academy's teaching sequences as the backbone. The homework helper can read a worksheet from any subject; lessons and courses are strongest where the curriculum library is deepest, including maths, science and English.
What does the beta cost?
Nothing. Beta families use TutorLumi free while we improve it together. In return we ask for honest feedback. Pricing only applies from general launch, and you will hear well before then.
Are the mock exams from real exam boards?
The papers are original, written in the style of your child's exam board and tier and based on the topics they have covered. They are not official past papers, though you can upload real past papers and have those marked too. We are not affiliated with any exam board.
How do you keep children safe?
Full parent visibility of every conversation, a tutor that sticks to schoolwork, safeguarding responses that point children to trusted adults and Childline, and careful data handling with no ads and no trackers. The detail is on our safety page.
Can I cancel?
During the beta there is nothing to cancel. Once paid plans exist, you will be able to cancel from your account at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
