An AI tutor for a child needs different rules

TutorLumi is built for children first and cleverness second. This is what that means in practice, and what we will never do.

Built for children, not adapted for them

Age-appropriate language, no open internet, no image generation, and a tutor that keeps conversations on learning. Otter never mentions exams; Lyra never talks down.

Parents see progress, not transcripts

You get what your child learned, where they are stuck and how long they spent, not a word-for-word log of their conversations. Children are told exactly what you can see.

If something looks serious

Automated checks watch for signs of distress or harm, and the tutor responds calmly in the moment. Most concerns are emailed to you. One exception is deliberate: if a child says they are being hurt at home, they are pointed to Childline (and a child at school to an adult at school too) rather than back to the family, and the flag comes to us instead of to you. We are not a safeguarding service and do not claim to be one, and every child is told plainly who gets told what.

Your data stays yours

UK-hosted, GDPR-compliant, never sold, and never used to train third-party models. Delete the account and the data goes with it.

What we don’t do

  • No advertising, ever. Nothing is sold to your child
  • No social features: no other children, no messaging, no sharing
  • No hidden usage: a daily cap you set, with a friendly cut-off
  • No selling data, and no training outside models on your child
